Laser sintering is a layer manufacturing technique that allows rapid manufacturing of complex geometries in plastic or metal materials without mold or specific tooling.
Design of Parts for Laser Sintering
Kaleidocycle

Polyamide built in one single piece. Demopart that shows the possibilities of the technology. It behaves like a paper kaleidocycle.

Living Hinges

Polyamide built in one single piece. Within the design rules for laser sintering projects, new geometries for living hinges were developed, taking into account the technicalities of the process.

Powder funnel for P3XX Systems

Polyamide funnel and slide built in one single piece. Design of a funnel as part of an alternative feeding system for EOSINT P3XX systems. The funnel incorporates a slide to allow opening an closing.

Medical Tray

Polyamide built in one single piece. Redesign of a piece of surgery equipment to study its feasibility through laser sintering. A solution to reduce the part volume was found through integrating foldaway legs.

The following projects were carried out at EOS GmbH with support from Design vs Art.
